Karl Lagerfeld has been the creative director of Chanel since 1983 and designing for Fendi since 1965. As well as designing collections for his own brand Karl Lagerfeld.
The famous designer acquired his look by 1976, dark sunglasses, 18th century inspired style, and the ponytail were his trademark.
As Chanel’s company fortune grew, the designer became known for his Grand Palais sets. Turning the historic exhibition complex located at the Champs-Élysées into creative runway scenes. In particular, he created once a forest using real trees and in another runway built a polar landscape using 265-tonne imported iceberg from Scandinavia.
Chanel Autumn/ Winter 2018 show in Paris
Dozens of trees, fallen leaves, and benches constructed from tree trunks covered the catwalk, creating the Autumn season quite literally.

Chanel Fall/ Winter 2017/18 Show in Paris
Karl Lagerfeld created a custom Chanel rocket to host a shiny line of space fashion. The models marched on a round stage set around the rocket before the countdown to liftoff the rocket creating clouds of fake exhaust.
Chanel 2018/19 Métiers d’Art Show in New York
The catwalk set looped the Temple of Dendur (an Ancient Egyptian Temple that was removed in 1960 from Tuzis, about 80 km south of Aswan to Metropolitan Museum of Art in New York) featuring gold garments, glittering tweeds, ornamented dresses, and bold jewels.
