They get shaped from one year to the other due to varying factors such as global trends and growing styles, as well as an individual’s taste and needs. are you wondering what are the Interior Design Trends in Egypt in 2019?
We analyzed the works of Egyptian interior designers in 2019. And as diverse as their tastes and styles might be, those trendy elements were common among most designers. Some of these trends were common with international ones, yet others were unique to our market’s demand in Egypt.
Here are the Interior Design Trends in Egypt in 2019!
No more empty walls
It seems that plain walls are becoming a thing of the past. It is becoming one of the most popular interior design trends in Egypt to make wall decorations. Even the ceiling is taken into consideration when designing the interior of a space, usually named the 5th wall.
Designers used a variety of design elements through a variety of techniques and materials. We categorized them according to materials and styles.
White Marble, Black Veins, or vice versa
It serves a lot with the overall mood of black and white. It gives a really elegant touch to any space. As the shine of the marble is incomparable with other finishing materials with the same color. It’s usually used with a recessed wall with a contrasting color.
We could see this material as well used in different ways such as in furniture pieces or flooring. Which still goes along very well in contrast with the walls.
Gypsum Frames
A revival of a classical element in our homes. we can see it designed in a more modern way with less ornamentation. Yet some designers took the step of creating the same beautiful floral patterns in contrast with their straight-lined contemporary designs that work together in beautiful harmony.
Wall Art
The addition of a portrait to a plain wall always gave a balance to space with respect to the furniture in it. Yet, some designers took this to a whole new level by creating beautiful artistic additions such as murals, contemporary portraits, and elegant wallpapers. These elements add a lot to the mood of any space with beautiful designs and colorful addition.
Sometimes a textured/exposed material works as an artistic addition on its own.
Parallel lines
We can see the use of this element in various functions. Such as partitioning, wall cladding, even as flooring in some designs. It greatly compliments a space with a parallel line element that looks really interesting.
Normally this addition is made out of wooden beams, but in some cases, we saw the designer adds this element using other materials such as wall cladding or wall inlays.
In some cases, this element is used as a false ceiling that works together with the lighting units in very creative ways, which takes us to our next element in 2019’s interior design trends
Wooden-Paneled Ceiling
Designers in 2019 have made various uses of this technique creatively. While some used it as we previously mentioned, some took wooden-paneled ceiling into a more abstract form in combination with lighting units.
Abstract Lighting Units
With the uprising trend of abstract forms, lighting units work perfectly as decorative elements. Usually taking pure geometrical forms, or industrialized themes, they give artistic additions to any space, with the additional function of providing lighting according to needs.
It’s becoming very popular to use indirect lighting or side lighting instead of the classical chandelier hanging in the middle of the room. Consequently, it makes this element works in favor of the function of the space, which provides an overall feeling of coziness.

Neutral Colors
Color serves as “the backbone of design” as the color expert Amy Wax said. It is a form of abstract expression, that is either used purely for aesthetics as well as functionally. It gives depth to any space through a different mixture of tones.
For example, a dark-colored interior will give it a sense of formality. While a light-colored one will reflect the daylight better into the room which gives it a cozy vibe. Finally, the addition of a tonal color can greatly affect the mood of your space by changing it from a calm place to an uplifting energetic one.
The colors of this year in Egypt were in line with the global trends. They are characterized by pale and less saturated tones like pastel colors. The palette used by the designers consisted of muted colors such as Lilac Gray, Olive Green, and Pale Pink.
But we couldn’t help but notice the way designers mixed their color tones into their spaces. A mixture of white or pale color, with a dark color such as black or brown. Finally, a touch of tonal color which greatly enhances the quality of a space. This contrasting palette gave a strong statement in this year’s designs. Sometimes the colors of the space came from the materials used in it as we mentioned earlier about the marble and wooden beams.
We also noticed that some people are tending towards either brown shades or gray ones. Do you consider yourself as brown and beige or black and white kind of person?
