National Museum of Egyptian Civilization

National Museum of Egyptian Civilization is considered one of the main projects sponsored by the UNESCO. Egypt and UNESCO agreed on the cooperation to set the objectives of the museum, consultation of the launches of the museum.

The establishment of the museum was achieved by a team of Egyptian professionals in different fields as Archaeology, Architecture, Landscape Architecture, Educational Services, Design Exhibitions, Security and Administration.

National Museum of Egyptian Civilization’s main goal is to ‘share knowledge” and to connect people with Egyptian history and culture. The museum presents Egyptian heritage from the past to the present time. on top of that, the museum will be acting as a cultural Centre. Through hosting concerts, live performances and leisure ‘shops, restaurants and cafes’

Museum Galleries

The museum’s collections are exhibited in three different regions which are:

Region 1: ‘The heart of the museum’ that shows the most successful achievements of the Egyptian civilization.
  • Medieval Era.
  • Archaic Era.
  • Pharaonic Era.
  • The Greco-Roman Period.
  • The Coptic Period.
  • The Islamic Period.
  • The Modern Period.
  • The Contemporary Period.
Region 2: divided into six topics.
  • The Dawn of Civilization.
  • The Nile.
  • Writing and Science.
  • Material Culture.
  • State and Society.
  • Beliefs and Thoughts.
Region 3: Kings of the Egyptian Empire

Here the visitors will have the chance to meet the kings and queens of Egypt who had a great in influencing and shaping the Egyptian civilization and culture.

The museum consists of well-equipped showrooms that will help the visitors to live the spirit of the greatness of every period/era in Egyptian history.

Facilities

The museum includes the Education Centre, Theatre, Conference Room, Labs, Library and Showrooms.

The National Museum of Egyptian Civilization is located in Ain Elsira, Al Fustat, Cairo, Egypt. Open to the public from 10:00 am to 10:00 pm with a ticket price 10 Egyptian Pound/ person.

Visiting the museum is a great chance for Egyptians and non-Egyptians to explore and learn more about the history and its development throughout the ages. Also, it will help students and researchers to search and study through the archive and the library located in the museum.
